ABOUT

I have been exploring sound and music for many years; practicing and refining to express and invoke emotion, discover states of peace, bring joy and support processes of transformation through music.

My music centres around the sitar and the melodies of the Indian raags. These sonic pathways, set in a deep and rich tradition, assist us in finding joy and connection within ourselves and the world around us.

What I have to share is a result of the generosity of my teachers combined with patience, persistence and love. My introduction to Indian music began in Edinburgh under the guidance of Mehboob Nadeem and the Sitar Project following the Etawah gharana*.

After a time of focusing on blending sitar with folk styles, I decided to head to India and made contact with Tarak Nath Mishra in Varanasi, experiencing the Benares gharana. Tarak gave me the structure and daily support to refine my technique and approach. This brought a deeper connection to the classical structures of Indian music and strengthened the passion for participating in the dissemination of this musical tradition.

Currently receiving more informal tutelage from Ramprapanna Bhattacharya, I continue to explore and refine my practice in order to share my appreciation and wonder for this esteemed musical tradition.

I have made an effort over the years to keep my music accessible to all, and will provide as much music for free as possible. There are also CDs up for sale on the music page which are the result of more special circumstances. If you appreciate my work then feel free to give your support.

I hope you enjoy what I have to offer online; a selection of freestyle and more traditional approaches to explore sound and music. I'm happy to receive feedback about my music, this site or any other enquiry.

Also available for concerts, private events, session recording, collaborations and tuition.
